Since today is Blue Monday, I decided to share my 'blue' thoughts with you!
Today I've been reflecting on the value of a day.
A sweet friend of mine went to be with her Saviour this last week. Her funeral will be today. It was a great surprise, a sudden shock to learn that she had passed. It was so unexpected!
Unexpected....
now that word makes me pause. Actually, we all 'expect' to pass from this earth one day. So why do we react with shock when someone makes the journey?
Perhaps it is that we are so bound with time. Time has become an enemy to us. Instead of giving us freedom, time keeps us tied up in knots of failure, frustration and fear. Every day, I start with a list of things I need to accomplish. Every night I go to bed with the same list, hopefully missing a few items! The next day it happens all over again. I just never get ahead of the clock!
Now, my sweet friend is no longer here. I have chosen to pause, to steal some time, to remember her today....to value my friendship with her....to value her life and the contribution she made to mine and also to our church.
Whilst reflecting, I remembered a small item that I purchased several years ago, just after my Mother became ill. She was in a skilled nursing facility for the last 2 1/2 years of her life. I enjoyed decorating her room and making it 'homey' for her. I found a sweet little gift...a small porcelain heart with purple violets on it. The quote on the heart says: "Life is precious, every day a gift." I placed the little reminder next to the sink in Mother's room....hand washing is an on-going process for a caregiver! Each day when visited, I would clean up 'things' for Mother, I would always be reminded that I needed to treasure those moments....even those that were not very pretty...because each day is truly a gift.
Lord, please help me to value my days! Let me arise each morning with your light in my heart and mind to allow me to clearly see each day's possibilities...it's potential...and hopefully, it's progress. Thank you for each day that you give...let me live them to the full!
Dear Kay, I miss you! I will see you again....until then.....

I love the scripture where it tells us that the Father God rejoices over the death of a saint... We have things a bit backwards don't we....... and YES today is a gift....... what a treasure!
I pray that your heart will continueto heal from the sudden loss of your sweet friend.
I will continue to lift you up.
So sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. Life is so precious. Every morning when I wake up, I thank God for allowing me to see another day.
My heart and prayers go out to your friend's family and friends. It is always such a shock when it happens unexpectly and so sudden.
Sending you ((hugs)))

So sorry for the loss of your dear friend. Asking God to sweetly comfort you, love you my friend.
My sympathies on your loss. Knowing there is more and that our loved ones are with Jesus takes away the sting but the hurt of missing them certainly is real and remains.
I hope that her service was meaningful and that you will find joy around you soon.

I am truly not trying to toot my own horn, but the subject of a devotional I wrote which is published at Christian Women Online's Internet Cafe today dovetails completely with this, and I thought you might enjoy it. You wrote a beautiful post today. Nice to meet you.
I am truly sorry about the loss of your friend. She has gone as you so rightly said, to her Savior, but when our friends go to be with Him, it leaves us sad and reflective much in the way you wrote for us here.
We learn to treasure all our moments..even, as you said, the ones that are not pretty. For each day truly is a gift. I wake each morning and give thanks for my life and the day to come with all of its treasures and moments. I will repeat that throughout the way and certainly in the night when time for sleep has come.
May the LORD embrace your heart and give you comfort dear friend. I'm so sorry for the loss of your precious friend.
I love you.
Hi Susan, thanks for following Bella Vista. I look forward to getting to know you better.
