My son-in-law's sister became ill and was in the hospital this last week. He, being the good brother that he is, felt compelled to make the trip from Atlanta to New Hampshire to make sure everything was okay. He headed to the airport, but his flight was delayed 2 hours.
During this time, his sister was released from the hospital and was at home with their Mom. When it came time for Mom to leave to pick up Trip at the airport, she looked up at the house and saw flames coming from the garage area roof. The smoke alarms had not as yet gone off. She dialed 911 and then went back in the house to get her daughter, and the dogs.
If my Son-in-law had not been delayed by two hours, this could have been a very different story as his Mom would not have been at home when the fire started. His sister, having come home from the hospital would likely have been asleep in the house.
It seems that the cause of the fire was most likely an electrical fault, something totally unanticipated.
However...
Psalm 85:13
Righteousness goes before him and prepares the way for his steps.
(New International Version)
Ps 1:6
For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous,
(from New International Version)
Ps 5:12
For surely, O LORD, you bless the righteous;
you surround them with your favor as with a shield.
(New International Version)
Psalm 34:15-19
The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their cry;
the face of the LORD is against those who do evil,to cut off the memory of them from the earth.
The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.
The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
A righteous man may have many troubles,but the LORD delivers him from them all;
(New International Version)
Thank you, Lord, that as we walk in your ways, Your Hand is upon us...leading us, guiding us, protecting us.
Blessed be the Name of the Lord!
(Please pray for this family as they pick up their lives quite literally from the ashes! I'm praying too and really thanking God for the way this turned out. It could have been devasting. He knew. He does hold us in His hands. Sarah
I love how God takes such good care of us even when we think we are being inconvenienced.
Recently my sister and I were making a trip from OK to Virginia and our plane was delayed for hours. It was because the airplane had mechanical problems.
We missed our connecting flight and yes, we were so anxious to get to our destination, but we know that God works things out for our good and we just couldn't argue with that. We still don't know what He was saving us from, but we knew He was in control.
I'm so sorry this happened to your son-in-law's family. I'm thankful they were ok and got out safely.
I love all of the verses you shared. They are so comforting. I looked at the pictures. Wow!
I'm praying.
Thanks for sharing.
Take care!
Love,
Valerie
